Teens2Queens: Empowering Young Migrant Women Towards Inclusive Futures

Across Europe, young migrant women aged between 15 and 20 face unique challenges during their transition to adulthood. Linguistic barriers, social and familial pressures, unrecognized skills, and limited access to education and employment often leave them invisible in public policies and social support structures.

Launched in March 2025, the innovative European initiative Teens2Queens, funded by the European Union, is set to transform this reality. Coordinated by a dynamic consortium of six European partners from France, Austria, Italy, Sweden, and Romania, this ambitious 24-month project strives to foster inclusion, empowerment, and active participation of young migrant women.

Transforming Invisible Barriers into Empowerment Opportunities

At the heart of Teens2Queens is the conviction that self-awareness and skill recognition are crucial first steps towards autonomy and inclusion. To address this, the project has developed the groundbreaking “Competence Gap Detector”, an innovative tool combining an online questionnaire with personalized interviews. This method precisely identifies gaps in personal, civic, and entrepreneurial skills among young migrant women.

Using insights from this tool, Teens2Queens has created a comprehensive modular online training program, offering 15 skill-specific modules across three key areas: personal development, citizenship, and entrepreneurship. Each participant earns a micro-certification upon completion, enhancing their employability and further education opportunities.

Building Inclusive Support Networks

Recognizing the importance of comprehensive support, Teens2Queens is also training 30 educators and social workers. These professionals will be equipped with tailored tools and methodologies to effectively support young migrant women, creating a more inclusive and responsive educational ecosystem.

Moreover, 80 young migrant women are actively participating in the co-creation of impactful civic mini-projects. These initiatives, centered on the theme “European Citizenship and Migration,” will be showcased to policymakers in Brussels, amplifying the voices and perspectives of young women at the highest level.

Informing Policy and Practice

Teens2Queens is committed to influencing long-term change. As the project unfolds, its key findings, experiences, and actionable recommendations will be synthesized into a strategic document. This report will align closely with the European Commission’s Action Plan on Integration and Inclusion (2021–2027), providing policymakers with valuable insights for enhancing the integration and inclusion of young migrant women across Europe.
